Good morning, Edenton. The voting is over, the results are in, and Louie can take a victory lap.

With two hundred fifteen votes, Louie is your Edenton Top Dog of the Week. Bring out that first-place ribbon. There’s a bag of custom-baked biscuits from Bayside Bakery and Boards with a champion’s name on it.

Louie gave the rest of the field something to chase all week. And when the voting closed, he had sixty-nine votes to spare.

Gizmo, representing Vaughan’s Jewelry, made a strong finish with one hundred forty-six votes to claim second. Gizmo added fifty votes since our Wednesday report. That’s quite a closing kick, but Louie kept moving, too.

Finnegan brings home third place with eighty-six. A steady contender throughout the week, Finnegan held his ground and earned a place among our prize winners.

And then there’s Izzy.

We told you Wednesday to keep an eye on Isabella, better known as Izzy. She was five votes behind Waylon and Willie. Well, she caught them, passed them, and finished fourth with sixty-one.

Waylon and Willie held on to fifth with fifty-four. Two dogs, one entry, and a spot in the winner’s circle. There may have to be a little discussion at home about sharing the honors.

Those are your top five. Louie, Gizmo, Finnegan, Izzy, and Waylon and Willie. All five entries are in the money, as the sporting crowd likes to say. Each receives an award.

Baxter came close. With forty-six votes, Baxter finished sixth, just eight votes short of that final prize position. Keep that name in mind when the monthly runoff comes around.

Koa finished seventh with thirty-six. Sir Jasper, Duke of Granville, collected thirty-four for eighth. Gracie was right behind with thirty-three, and Nubby completed the top ten with twenty-five.

Farther down the field, Maggie and Layla Maye finished level at thirteen apiece. Enzo Adachi and Deb Good’s Mazie matched each other at eleven. Summer and Little Lady Bumblebee had seven each, while Runa, Diesel and Cricket finished with six.

And a little applause for Princess Holly. She was waiting for her first vote in Wednesday’s report. She finishes this round with two. Every cheering section starts somewhere.

Now, here’s what happens next. All dogs except this week’s winning dog, Louie, go into the next week’s contest, headed for the monthly. So whether your favorite finished sixth or farther down the standings, there’s more racing ahead.

For now, the honors belong to Louie and our five prize-winning entries. Congratulations to the dogs, their families, and everyone who helped turn a friendly contest into something worth checking every day.
