A proposed 60-day moratorium on data centers, commercial architectural design guidelines and discussion of a possible response to criminal charges against Councilman Aaron Coston are on the agenda for the Edenton Town Council’s upcoming meeting.
The council will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 504 S. Broad St.
A public hearing is scheduled on the proposed data center moratorium. Council members will receive a staff report from Asst. Town Manger/Town Planner Dewayne Whealton, discuss the proposal and consider whether to approve it. The agenda does not provide details about the proposed moratorium’s scope or the reasons for its consideration.
A second hearing concerns a major special use permit application for a minor subdivision at 110 Whitemon Lane, in the Commercial Highway zoning district.
The council will hear presentations from staff and the applicant, followed by public comments and deliberation. Its consideration will include whether the proposal would endanger public health or safety, injure adjoining property values, be in harmony with the surrounding area and conform to the town’s adopted plans.
Under new business, Edenton Town Manager Corey Gooden and Whealton are scheduled to lead a discussion of commercial architectural design guidelines.
The council also will discuss what the agenda describes as an “appropriate response (if any)” to the criminal charges against Coston. No specific action is identified in the agenda.
The consent agenda includes budget amendments for airport lighting vault work, runway lighting and runway rehabilitation, along with amendments for Paradise Road and Project Teapot. Dollar amounts and project details are not included in the agenda.
Other consent items include a building reuse resolutions for Project Alpha Tango and Project Flagship, a street signage request for the 100 block of Pembroke Circle and an NCDOT resolution of abandonment.
A public comment period is scheduled before the hearings, with speakers limited to three minutes. The meeting will conclude with the town manager’s report and items considered timely and important.
